Latest Calpine holes includes best grade yet

Results from hole No 89-21 included a high grade intercept of 1.3 oz gold and 26.4 oz silver over 34.5 ft; this occurred within a longer but lower grade section averaging 0.59 oz gold and 9.6 oz silver across 98.4 ft. The intercepts occurred between 185.7 and 284.1 ft.

A fence of three holes is being drilled beneath 89-21 to test the favorable 21 zone stratigraphy between 1,150 ft and 1,800 ft down the plane of the mineralization. This drilling has already indicated a gentle synclinal fold of the favorable stratigraphy such that its dip becomes shallower to the west. The 21 zone is open along strike in both directions and down dip.

Hole 89-19 assayed 0.198 oz gold and 4.8 oz silver over 103.4 ft including 44.3 ft of 0.30 oz gold and 9.7 oz silver. Another intercept in this hole returned 29.5 ft of 0.2 oz gold and 2.3 oz silver. The intercepts occurred between 191.9 and 295.3 ft.

Hole 89-20 yielded 39.4 ft grading 0.1 oz gold including 9.8 ft of 0.32 oz gold with minor silver in each intercept. A 4.9 ft intercept assayed 0.11 oz gold and 6.5 oz silver. The intercepts occurred between 255.9 ft and 521.7 ft.

All the holes are part of an in-fill drilling program designed to provide reserve data for the 21 zone which now has a strike length of approximately 1,000 ft. The company is now stepping out to the west about 165 ft whic h could add reserves to the 21 zone. Another tier of deep holes will be completed on a different section and once that program is completed Calpine will step out to the east.

From a geological standpoint Calpine says the results are “remarkably predictable”and somewhat unique for B.C. The discovery is definitely volcanogenic in origin with the mineralization showing up right at the top of a volcanic breccia unit, it confirms.

The 45,000 ft drill program presently under way will take until April to complete; recent weather conditions have been excellent although there was extensive snowfall earlier this year. Two Longyear 38 drill rigs are on the property.
