Expectations are running high at the Piedras Verdes project in Mexico’s Chihuahua state, where Sand River Resources (SRIV-C) is embarking on a 1,500- to 2,000-metre program of diamond drilling.
The Vancouver-based junior will be drill-testing for copper, zinc and high-grade silver mineralization encountered in previous, small-scale mining operations at Piedras Verdes, which is situated 15 km northwest of the Sauzal project of Francisco Gold and 5 km south-east of the Cienaguita mine of Glamis Gold.
Sand River reports that encouraging assays have been received from a mapping and sampling program that is now winding down. Assays from the first 96 samples average 0.73% copper, including 24 samples that average 2.2% copper, ranging from 1% to greater than 3% copper. The samples also contain an average of 57 grams silver per tonne, with 41 samples averaging 130 grams silver; the range is 18 to 1,082 grams.
