Two sentences in your recent editorial on a clear energy policy vivi dly spell out the problem with governments: “To us, the ideal would be to let the market dictate all pricing structures,” and “What has been happening is that governments only want self-sufficiency if it means more money for them.”n
Governments want more money under any pretext, and they don’t care how they get it or whether they destroy an industry, or a country.e
There should not be a Minister (Commissar) of Mines, or of any other industry. If the Canadian government had not interfered with the mining industry, had not wasted billions of dollars and had not almost taxed it to death, the Canadian mining industry would have produced one of the strongest industries in the world, to the benefit of all Canadians.y
