Regarding Harry Oakes, referred to in a page 1 story in the Dec 1 issue of The Northern Miner, titled Mining’s unique practices questioned at Lac appeal. He was not murdered in Bermuda. He was murdered in Nassau.
I have never heard of Harry Oakes referred to as a “drifter,” as stated in the article by James Borland. He undoubtedly experienced some hard times during his prospecting days. Stewart Staunton Bracebridge, Ont.
