I wish to support Mr Kortschwar’s letter in your March 23 issue (Too Much on Gold?). I, too, have been a subscriber for many years and bought into some of your base metal companies before they ran into hard times.
I still own some of those shares but rarely do I see anything about them in your paper. Do you still keep in touch with anything other than gold?
What does the magazine referred to by Mr Kotchwar cover and why isn’t it available outside of Canada? L. Jones Reno, Nev. Editor’s note: You are not alone in your support for Mr Kotchwar. There is such a clamor for gold news that perhaps we have, unintentionally we assure you, neglected other mining activities a bit. Space and staff time have to be considered, of course, but we will try to improve the balance.
So far as our monthly Northern Miner Magazine is concerned, it is considerably more technical than the weekly paper. Canadian subscribers receive it as part of their subscription but our circulation department feels that the high postage and handling charges necessary for foreign subscribers would be prohibitive. Perhaps we should reconsider our policy. It is available to readers outside Canada at the following prices: $5 per copy or $60 per year, mailed to U.S.A., and $10 per copy or $120 per year to other countries. These rates include postage.
