Your timely editorial “Left out in the cold” (T.N.M., March 28/94) discusses the impact of the recent U.S.-Russian agreement on uranium imports. It mentions Cameco as Canada’s largest uranium producer and then lists other producers as being Rio Algom and Cogema Resources.
You failed to mention Uranerz Exploration & Mining, Canada’s second-largest uranium producer. Uranerz, as an active joint-venture partner with Cameco, shares the same production centres (Key Lake and Rabbit Lake). In fact, Uranerz produces more uranium (after Cameco) than all other Canadian producers combined.
When discussing uranium production in Canada, leaving out the name of Uranerz would be similar to discussing nickel production and not mentioning Falconbridge.
