A 35,000-ft diamond drill program is scheduled to start before the end of September on the Arrowhead gold property of Quebec Cobalt and Exploration in Joannes and Bousquet twps., Que.
The 1,000-acre property has been optioned to Omega Exploration and Farboro Resources, which can earn a 50% interest in the property by spending $2 million along with payments of $100,000 to Quebec Cobalt, over two years. Omega and Farboro will be joint operators of the exploration program.
Richard Evarts, president of Quebec Cobalt, tells The Northern Miner that Omega and Farboro will invest $1.2 million in exploration work before the end of February next year.
He said an underground phase is planned for the spring of that year.
Mr Evarts says an initial evaluation of the Arrowhead property indicates that the average grade of veins explored at depth, and discovered in the course of exploration in the late 1920s and 1930s, ranges from 0.16 oz gold per ton to 1.06 oz over widths ranging from one to 4 ft.
