MAPAO granted civic award

The Mines Accident Prevention Association of Ontario (MAPAO) has been presented with two awards from the city of North Bay.

Both awards were given for MAPAO’s “significant contribution to the outstanding safety record of the Ontario mining industry in 1992.” The industry set records in all three traditional measures of safety performance: frequency rate of total injuries requiring medical attention (down 9%), lost-time injuries (down 23%) and two fatalities (down from the previous record low of five).

The MAPAO head office is in North Bay.
