Montreal-listed joint-venture partners Ecu Gold Mining and McWatters Mining have begun a development program on the McWatters gold mine property near Rouyn-Noranda, Que.
The work involves sinking a decline 400 ft., developing three production levels, conducting definition drilling and extracting bulk samples. Once the results are known, a production decision will be made.
Reserves at the mine include 270,000 probable and possible tons at a grade of 0.18 oz. gold per ton and a resource of 230,000 tons.
