Meridian sets sights on India

Meridian Minerals India, an 80%-owned subsidiary of Meridian Peak Resources (MRK-V), has been granted two prospecting licences in the northwestern Indian state of Rajasthan.

The company has the right to explore for gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc, cadmium, bismuth and associated minerals in the Bharatpur region and in the Ghatol Block and Khankhera Block districts. The licences in these areas constitute a total area of 1,300 sq. km and are valid for at least three years.

Initial plans call for airborne and ground-based geophysics, geological mapping and sampling.

Meridian has also applied for prospecting licences in the eastern states of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa, for a total area of 10,000 sq. km.
