MINE EXPLORATION

The El Indio complex has reserves that will last for at least another 10 years. At the 3700 level, the deepest mine access, the San Paulo drift is being extended to confirm mineralization and to set up diamond drill stations for further probing at depth. “We started to understand the depth potential at Viento only last year,” said Daniel Vanin, mine manager. The drift has penetrated 2,600 m into the mountain, and 4,000 m is the target. Not only is the deposit open at depth, but horizontally too. Also in abundance are unmined areas of the upper workings, especially in the Viento system, said Vanin.

There are several other exploration targets on the property, some at Tambo and some at El Indio. As well, LAC’s land position covers 80,000 ha, which “is a big land position in El Indio,” said Ramon Araneda, vice-president, exploration.
