The results of a 38-hole program representing 4,000 ft. at the Sawyer gold property in North Carolina indicate the potential for three open-pit zones, Minefinders (VSE) reports.
One of the pits, to the west, was drilled on three vertical sections; a strike length of 2,000 ft. is indicated, with an average width of 100 ft. and a pit depth of 75 ft. The two other saprolite-oxide zones to the east require further drilling.
The company plans deeper drilling to test for gold-bearing sulphide mineralization.
