MINERAL REVIEW AND FORECAST: DEPUTY MINISTER’S MESSAGE

On behalf of the Mineral Policy Sector and Energy Sector of Energy, Mines and Resources Canada, we are pleased to participate in the presentation of the annual mineral review and forecast in The Northern Miner Magazine.

The information and analysis presented in the articles in this issue offer a sample of the kinds of detailed intelligence that is available to you from the experts in our department. In keeping with our commitments under Excellence EMR, we strive to provide all our clients with relevant information and continually improving service. We welcome your comments and critiques that will allow us to modify and enhance our services and operations.

The reviews in this issue cover the important economic developments that influenced the Canadian mineral industry during the past year, with particular emphasis on the resource, production and marketing events affecting the leading metals and minerals produced in Canada in 1991.

The publication of these reviews precedes the release of the 1991 Canadian Minerals Yearbook (CMY). Prepared by the Mineral Policy Sector, the CMY is a comprehensive review of some 40 mineral commodities in Canada and offers well over 600 pages of valuable information and statistics on our mineral industry. The 1991 issue will be available for sale in July from the Canada Communications Group, Supply and Services Canada, Hull, Que., K1A 0S9, telephone (819) 956-4802 or facsimile (819) 994-1498.
