Mining Recorder, claims inspectors in northern Ontario

Three new appointments to deal with the increasing volume of claims and claims inspection work in the Timmins-Kirkland Lake area of Ontario, have been made by the province’s Ministry of Northern Development and Mines.

Michael Weirmeir has been appointed mining recorder for the Larder Lake mining division, and Blair Kite as mining claims inspector, both to be located in Kirkland Lake. Mr Weirmeir was most recently mining claims inspector in Kenora, and Mr Kite moves from a position as a geologist with Cumberland Resources, in Thunder Bay.

Robert Lee has been named mining claims inspector in Timmins, joining the ministry after a career in private industry.

The ministry adds a new deputy mining recorder’s position will be established in Kirkland Lake in the near future, and an assistant mining claims inspector’s position will be filled in Timmins.
