More gold, yet another structure at Pelangio’s Detour Lake

Pelangio Mines (PLG-V) has hit significant gold at the North Walter zone, part of its Detour Lake property, 180 km northeast of Timmins, Ont.

One of the drill holes intersected 9.57 grams gold per tonne over 2.6 metres at a depth of 111 metres, including a 0.64-metre section that graded 36.8 grams gold. A second hole intersected 5.3 grams gold over 3.8 metres at a depth of 121 metres, including 12.5 grams gold over 0.7 metre and 15.6 grams over 0.8 metre. Another third hole hit 3 metres of 4.7 grams gold at a depth of 140 metres.

The holes were drilled on section 16900E, from the same collar but at increasingly greater angles of 45-65. Visible gold was seen in two of these holes. It is associated with 15-25% quartz veins cutting silicified mafic volcanic rocks.

One hole was drilled 700 metres east of these holes, on the eastern edge of the anomaly, but it failed to intersect significant grades. Assays are pending from two holes drilled 30 metres east and 30 metres west of the setup at section 16900E.

Earlier this year, two holes intersected the 700-metre anomaly, prior to which only two holes had been drilled over it.

A 12,000-metre program is about to get under way.

The M zone is 800 metres south on the Detour Lake Block A property, which is under option from Pelangio by Trade Winds Ventures (TWD-V). The property is directly west of the past-producing Detour Lake mine, currently held by Pelangio.

Trade Winds recently cut significant gold along a 700-metre strike length, and two drills continue to test the zone. The M zone has been cut over a 3.6-km strike, and significant gold was intersected over 2.8 km along strike.

A mineralized structure updip of the original M zone has been hit over an 850-metre strike length.

Selected assays include one hole at section 14000E, which intersected 3.6 grams gold over 17 metres, including a 2-metre section grading 21.4 grams gold per tonne. At 14500E, one hole hit 13 grams gold over 4.4 metres, including a 0.7-metre interval of 69 grams gold. Another hole, at 14700E, cut 11.8 grams gold over 4 metres.

Visible gold was seen in numerous quartz veins, though such showings are not always reflected by particularly high assays. For example, hole 17 on section 14500E had a high assay of 3.47 grams gold over 0.85 metre, even though visible gold was noted.

Six other holes intersected grades varying from 2.9 to 24.6 grams gold over widths of 0.4-8 metres.

The geometry of the M zone is complex, and several holes cut multiple zones known as the hangingwall, upper, middle, lower, footwall and midway.

Holes are being drilled at 100-metre-intervals along sections from 14000E to 15000E. A hole drilled at 13200E failed to intersect significant gold.

Trade Winds is earning a half-interest in the Block A property.
