Murgor drills gold find

Montreal-based Murgor Resources (MUG-M) has entered the first phase of drilling at its Dorset gold property, near Mishubishu Lake in northwestern Ontario.

The program is expected to total 1,500 metres, and a second phase of drilling is scheduled for May.

In 1997, a surface exploration program identified a gold-bearing shear zone extending for 1.2 km in length and varying in width from 2 to 12 metres.

Late in the year, bedrock channel sampling on some stripped areas yielded 2.67 grams gold per tonne over 12.5 metres (including 4.82 grams over 4.2 metres) and 3.66 grams over 10.6 metres (including 6.19 grams over 2.1 metres).

More recently, a 65-line-km sinduced polarization (IP) survey extended the gold-bearing zone a further 5 km in length, while indicating the presence of additional parallel zones in the immediate area.

Murgor’s interest in the Mishubishu area amounts to 550 claims, representing 8,900 ha.

The Dorset property is halfway between the Eagle River gold mine and River Gold (formerly Magnacon) mill, both of which are owned and operated by River Gold Mines.
