National lecture tour on underground technology

Dr Peter K. Kaiser, professor of Civil Engineering, University of Alberta, will be lecturing across Canada on the recent trends in construction of underground openings in rock, courtesy of the Canadian Geotechnical Society.

Dr Kaiser’s presentation will concentrate on two main aspects of tunnel, shaft and room construction:

* Recent developments in underground technology.

* The purpose and benefit of performance monitoring for design and construction. Case histories will be discussed.

His western tour will start in Winnipeg, March 30, then go on to Saskatoon, April 2, Calgary, April 8 and Vancouver, April 9. For lecture time and place in your area call the cgs office in Toronto at (416) 674-0366.
