Vancouver — NDT Ventures (NDE-V) and Donner Minerals (DML-V) have resumed work at their South Voisey’s Bay project in Labrador.
Archeological work is under way, to be followed by gravity and electromagnetic surveys, geological mapping and re-logging of early drill core. Extensive drilling is planned for next spring.
In addition, Donner and Falconbridge (FL-T) recently inked agreements with the Innu Nation that address environmental and archeological issues.
Earlier this year, SVB Nickel (SVBN) was created to pool 20 licences covering 549.5 sq. km in the South Voisey’s Bay area. SVBN is held 76.7% by Donner, 11.4% by Cypress Development (CYP-V), 6.5% by NDT Ventures, 4.2% by Rcom Venture and 1.2% by Curion Ventures (CUV-V).
Subsequent to the formation of SVBN, Donner and Falco struck a deal whereby the nickel major can earn half of a 624.5-sq.-km package of claims by spending a total of $23 million on exploration over the next five years.
Except for some work last year by Major General Resources (MGJ-V) on the Sarah Lake property, the entire South Voisey’s Bay project has been in a state of limbo since the summer of 1999, when disagreements with the Innu Nation forced Teck Cominco (TEK-T) and Donner to suspend exploration.
The project is 75 km west of the Labrador Sea coast and 90 km south of Inco‘s (N-T) Voisey’s Bay nickel project.
