Having completed initial exploration of its two concessions in Albania, Nebex (ASE) is preparing to drill for base metals.
President Brian Douglas says a 30,000-ft. drill program is planned for the winter. “Some promising areas have already been identified on one of the concession areas, Mirdita, which is a copper mining area in north-central Albania.”
Nebex has been carrying out line-cutting, geological mapping, sampling and electromagnetic (EM) surveys at Mirdita, as well as soil and rock sampling on the Kukes concession in the northeast. Electromagnetic surveys are ongoing, and very-low-frequency EM and magnetometer surveys will follow.
Nebex geologists regard the setting of basic and felsic volcanics as favorable for both volcanogenic massive sulphide base metal deposits and Eskay Creek-style gold deposits.
One gossan zone has been mapped over a 500-metre strike length and a width of 400 metres. Two other gossans have been traced over a strike length of more than 1 km.
Old drill records of Mirdita reveal a 3.3-metre intersection that averaged 3.66% copper and 19.39% zinc, as well as 13.96 grams gold per tonne. Another hole had 4.04 metres of 2.31% copper, 17.49% zinc and 7.37 grams gold.
