A contract has been let for the construction of a 500-ton-per-day carbon-in-leach mill facility by Nevada Goldfields Corp. The mill is expected to start processing ore from Nevada’s Kingston mine in Nevada by the end of February, the company says.
An original plan was for the company to use parts of the old mill which was constructed by previous operators. However, metallurgical work suggested that a new mill was warranted.
A 12,000-tonne stockpile of material has been built during the cleanup and development of the Kingston mine. Another 50,000 tonnes of mill feed will come from a small open pit near the underground workings.
By the end of November, Nevada Goldfields completed more than 17,000 ft of underground drilling, designed to confirm reserves and grade. More than half of 54 higher grading drill sections assayed above 0.25 oz gold per ton. These sections were a minimum of 10 ft in width.
Nevada Goldfields says that based on this drilling confidence in the reserves has been increased. Proven and probable reserves total 370,000 tonnes grading 12.5 g gold per tonne. Possible reserves total 570,000 tonnes grading 6.7 g.
