Miranda Industries (MAD-V) has begun trenching at its Blue Wing gold project in Pershing Cty., Nev., and will soon begin drilling there, and at the Artesia project in Lyon Cty.
Blue Wing, an epithermal gold prospect, is largely covered by overburden, so Miranda has used ground magnetic and very-low-frequency electromagnetic surveys to locate a series of north-striking bedrock structures.
Mapping and geochemical work shows that the bedrock in the immediate area is altered and silicified, with concentrations of arsenic, antimony and mercury that are higher than those found in bedrock further from the structures.
Surface samples have carried values as high as 3.4 grams gold per tonne.
At Artesia, just west of Arimetco’s (ARX-T) Yerington copper mine, gold showings with grades of up to 5.8 grams occur in quartz veins in altered tuff. The veins appear to be related to northwest-striking structures.
Miranda’s drill targets will be at the intersection between the structures and altered zones in the tuff.
