New digital maps for Flin Flon area

Two maps created under the National Mapping program have been released for the area comprising Flin Flon, Man. and Creighton, Sask.

The maps, which update the geology of the area for the first time since 1960, were developed by the Geological Surveys of Manitoba and Saskatchewan in collaboration with the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC). The first map, is a detailed picture of the copper- and zinc-rich area which straddles the provincial border.

The second is a color geophysical map of the Earth’s gravitational field along the margin of the Canadian Shield.

The maps will be available this fall on computer discs (CD-ROM digital data) from the GSC.
