Alberta-listed New Island Minerals has received encouraging gold assays from sampling on its Glover Island property in central Newfoundland.
The samples were collected from an outcrop area measuring 225 metres long and 100 metres wide at the newly discovered Lucky Smoke zone, which is an extension of the Kettle Pond shear zone.
The Lucky Smoke contains a high-grade core up to 10 metres wide yielding assays between 5.6 and 33 grams gold per tonne. Samples from outside the high-grade section range up to 3.8 grams.
New Island has commenced a detailed evaluation of the new zone, which includes line cutting, detailed prospecting, geophysics and trenching to be followed by diamond drilling in September.
