With the pall of Black Monday still hanging over world stock markets, more professional and private investors are taking a close look at gold as an investment which has remained stable, yet still offers rapid growth. Gold has been a top performer among major investor instruments during the past 15 years and continues to be one of the most profitable investments.

The Gold Show ’88, which will be held Jan 19-21 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, is an exhibition of publicly-traded mining companies, gold-oriented mutual funds, physical gold and paper instruments. The show combines seminars with displays by some of the most dynamic gold companies. The event is sponsored by the London-based Mining Journal.

“We are bringing together under one roof information on the various gold investment opportunities in equities, mutual funds and commodities. We are providing the investor with a valuable way of making meaningful comparisons among the kinds of investments and the companies themselves,” says Sandra Lawrence, president of The Gold Show

The seminars will be conducted by recognized experts in the gold investment community, and the program provides an intensive survey of the full spectrum of gold investment opportunities.

“The seminars cover a broad range of relevant topics,” said Lawrence. “The objective is to educate the potential investor about the distinctive characteristics of equities, commodities and funds, identify gold industry market trends, outline the construction of a `gold portfolio’ and show investors where the opportunities are.” Separate programs have been designed and geared to the interests of the professional and private investor.

The most active, growing mining companies are exhibiting at the show, along with national mints, mutual funds and brokerage firms. In addition to their display booths, exhibitors will give company management presentations, providing the investor with a concentrated view into the potential of individual companies. Top management will be present to answer questions and provide information on an individual basis.

Said Marty Rothman, the show’s marketing director, “The Gold Show is intended for serious investors who realize that the complexities of today’s markets demand an in-depth education, but we also wanted to give the visitors an oportunity to socialize and get acquainted with the gold industry people. It’s going to be a very festive affair.” Single day admissions are available to those unable to attend all three days of the conference.
