New zone active at Lac des Iles

A newly discovered zone will soon be providing most ore production at the Lac des Iles platinum group metals mine in northwestern Ontario.

In fact, production from the C zone already has begun, enabling owner North American Palladium (TSE) to proceed with development of the Roby pit.

Having two pits active will allow the company to balance ore production and waste removal, says President C.D. McDoulett. In the third quarter, 205,609 tons were milled, compared with 206,706 tons in the second quarter.
