NEWS ROUNDUP — BYG suspends mining Mt. Nansen

Milling and mining operations have ceased at the Mt. Nansen gold-silver mine, 120 miles north of Whitehorse, Y.T.

Operator B.Y.G. Natural Resources (BYG-T) was told to close the mine by the water resources branch of the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development. BYG was within one month of exhausting its existing deposit and plans to reopen the mine once it amends its water licence. In the meantime, the company will continue recovering gold from the circuit. It also plans to outline new reserves and thereby extend the life of the operation.
