NEWS ROUNDUP — Fairfield sells ore to Noranda

A 570-ton shipment of high-grade gold ore from the Siwash North gold deposit owned by Fairfield Minerals (TSE) is on its way to the Horne smelter in Quebec. The shipment is estimated to contain 2,000 oz. gold.

By the end of October, Fairfield expects to extract an additional 4,500 tons of gold-bearing vein material from its expanded pit near Merritt in southern British Columbia. A reverse circulation drill program is planned to begin shortly to define the limits of further pit expansion next year. The Siwash North project has preliminary reserves totalling 340,000 tons grading 0.64 oz. gold and 0.72 oz. silver per ton, at a cutoff grade of 0.29 oz. gold.
