Leach tests demonstrate that material from the Aldebaran
project in Chile will not require fine crushing.
Partners Bema Gold (TSE) and Arizona Star Resource (VSE) report that three 22-ton tests, which simulated leaching of coarse ore, returned heap-leach recoveries averaging 83%. The leached
material was crushed to minus 6 inches.
At the Cerro Casale deposit, the joint venture outlined a minable reserve of 104 million tons grading 0.019 oz. gold per ton.
Yearly production is projected at 100,000 oz., with cash costs pegged at about US$270 per oz.
The cost estimate is based on 3-stage crushing to minus 0.5
inches, and is expected to drop to US$245 per oz. now that it has been shown that less crushing is required. The project’s capital cost is also expected to fall, by nearly 25% to US$48 million. A full feasibility study will be completed within the next 12
months.
