NEWS ROUNDUP — Major General, Cameco hit gold

One hot hole does not a mine make. Nonetheless, partners Major General Resources (MGJ-V) and Cameco (CCO-T) are justifiably encouraged by the results of recent drilling at the Despinassy property, 70 km north of Val d’Or, Que.

Hole 17 hit a 21.3-metre interval (starting at 118.8 metres) grading 6.42 grams gold per tonne, which includes two higher-grade zones, one of which graded 25.91 grams gold over 3.1 metres, with the other returning 6.98 grams over 5.3 metres. This mineralization is hosted in an upper deformation zone that assayed 2.37 grams over its entire width of 61.4 metres. The hole also hit a second, lower deformation zone that returned 0.55 gram gold over 22.6 metres. The two deformation zones extend for at least 2.5 metres along strike.

Cameco has started a third-phase program totalling 1,800 metres in seven holes on the overburden-covered property. The company can earn a 60% interest from Major General over three years.
