NEWS ROUNDUP — Ramp driven at Dona Lake mine

At the Dona Lake gold mine, near Pickle Lake, Ont., Espalau (ME) has constructed a ramp for gaining access to the crown pillar.

Since buying the mine last summer from Toronto-listed Placer Dome (through its subsidiary, mining contracting firm Ross Finlay), Espalau has been carrying out an aggressive exploration and development program.. Based on current reserves, Espalau anticipates about 200,000 tons, grading nearly 0.25 oz. gold per ton, will be extracted this year.

To reflect its increased involvement in mining, the company plans to change its name to Espalau Mining.

Its partner in the project is Societe Miniere Ecudor (ME), which has a 35% interest.
