NEWS ROUNDUP — Reserve increase at Myra Falls

After milling 1.17 million tonnes last year, mine operator Westmin Resources (TSE) reported a significant increase in proven and probable geological reserves at its Myra Falls mine near Campbell River, B.C.

Reserves at the end of 1992 were reported as totalling 12.5 million tonnes grading 2.1 grams gold and 45.6 grams silver per tonne, 1.9% copper, 0.5% lead and 6.3% zinc. This tonnage is higher grade than reserves reported at the end of 1991, which totalled 11.2 million tonnes of 2.2 grams gold and 43.7 grams silver, 1.9% copper, 0.4% lead and 5.1% zinc.

Possible geological reserves increased to 2.7 million tonnes from 1.67 million tonnes a year earlier. Westmin has continued detailed development drilling and access drifting at Myra Falls, related to the Battle and Gap zones.
