NEWS ROUNDUP — Seabright lawsuit concluded

The Seabright legal case has been concluded. The Australian owners of Westminer Canada have decided not to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada.

In January, the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal upheld a ruling vindicating Terence Coughlan and six former directors of Seabright Resources of civil claims filed by Westminer Canada and affiliate Westminer Canada Holdings (T.N.M., Jan. 24/94).

The original lawsuit was filed in 1988 by Westminer following its takeover of Seabright. The Seabright directors were acquitted in the initial trial. Damages payable by Westminer total more than $11.5 million.

No further legal action will be taken by Westminer against Coughlan in Ontario.
