NEWS ROUNDUP — St Andrew fined over spill

The Ontario provincial court has ordered St Andrew Goldfields (TSE) to pay a $16,000 fine in connection with a spring spill at the company’s Stock Twp. gold mine near Timmins, Ont.

The court also ruled that the company must pay an additional $16,000 to the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources to assist with the rehabilitation of nearby Driftwood River and Moose Lake.

St Andrew says the spill occurred when the tailings dam overflowed after unusually high spring runoff in April, 1991.
