NEWS ROUNDUP — Virginia plans Sagar drilling

A drilling program is planned for early 1993 by Virginia Gold Mines (ME) for its Sagar-III property in the Labrador trough area of Quebec.

Virginia, which has increased the number of claims at Sagar, says recent sampling of boulder fields No. 2 and No. 3 returned impressive assays, averaging 1.1 oz. gold per ton and 1.2% uranium.

Five boulder fields have been identified and 68 samples in total taken; more results will be published in the near future. The company says all samples were analyzed by Chimitec Ltd. in Quebec City and a few others were analyzed by X-Ray Assay Laboratories in Toronto.

President Andre Gaumond says that although no outcrop has been found in the area, there is evidence — the weight (some boulders weigh more than one ton), shape and distribution of the boulders — that the source of the boulders is close.
