NEWS ROUNDUP — Zigarlick retires from Echo Bay

The vice-chairman of Echo Bay Mines (TSE), John Zigarlick, has retired after 24 years with the gold-silver producer.

Zigarlick, president of Echo Bay from 1977 to 1991, was named Mining Man of the Year in 1984 by The Northern Miner.

Also announcing his retirement was Peter Clarke, senior vice-president. Both Zigarlick and Clarke will act as consultants to the company. Echo Bay has promoted Robert Armstrong from senior vice-president of operations to executive vice-president of operations.
