With results from the winter program in hand,
Pioneer says winter drilling at Riou Lake “exceeded expectations” as it confirmed the essential elements of the unconformity-type uranium deposit model on the property. Anomalous uranium was encountered in the seven drill holes that reached the unconformity, as well as in sandstone fractures above the unconformity. The ground geophysics program discovered an electromagnetic anomaly, which subsequent drilling showed to be caused by a zone of basement graphite conductors (an essential element of the deposit model).
The summer program will entail reconnaissance and geological mapping, till boulder studies, lake-sediment geochemical surveys and a borehole electromagnetic geophysical survey. Work will begin in July.
