Noranda’s Bourlamaque bet optioned by Kingswood Exp.

Noranda Exploration, a unit of Toronto-based Noranda (TSE), is teaming up with Kingswood Explorations (ASE) to look for deep massive sulphides on a group of claims in Bourlamaque Twp., east of Val d’Or, Que.

Kingswood says the 18-claim property is adjacent to the past producing East Sullivan copper zinc mine and predicated on the same geological structure as the massive sulphide discovery of Aur Resources (TSE) and Societe Miniere Louvem (TSE). The Aur-Louvem project is 12 miles further east.

Under an agreement with Noranda, Kingswood can earn a 50% stake in the Bourlamaque Twp. claims by spending $1.2 million on exploration over four years.

Noranda, which already has the right to take control of Louvem, will act as operator of the Bourlamaque drill program. The initial $200,000 will be spent during the next eight weeks on deep penetration geophysics and diamond drilling.

Gold was the target of previous exploration on the Bourlamaque property and past diamond drilling tested only to a vertical depth of 500 ft. The best result reported was 6 ft. of grade 0.36 oz. gold and 2.5 ft. of 0.6% copper.

According to Kingswood President Wayne O’Connor, a sulphide stringer zone plunges northeast toward the optioned claims from the old East Sullivan mine property (where 16 million tons of copper- zinc-silver ore was mined to a depth of 3,900 ft. during the 1950s and 1960s).

Exploration on the Kingswood- Noranda claims will include some deep drilling to test the northeast trending stringer zone, O’Connor said.
