Noranda workers reject latest offer

The latest offer by Noranda Minerals’ Horne Division in Noranda, Que., to striking workers has been rejected. Members of the CNTU voted 71.5% in favor of rejecting the company’s final offer for a new 3-year collective agreement, Noranda says.

As a result, the strike at the Horne smelter, which has been in effect since Nov 5, will continue. The smelter continues to be operated by management personnel at reduced capacity. Noranda says it does not intend to schedule any further negotiations.
