The latest pair of holes by Nuinsco Resources (NWI-T, NUIRF-) on the Minago sulphide nickel deposit, about 70 km south of Wabowden, Man., have delivered starkly different results.
The first hole, no. NM-06-02, yielded some of the highest grades from the project so far. Results include a 551-metre core length (beginning 278.9 metres below surface) grading 0.55% nickel, including an 81-metre interval running 1.12% nickel
A lower 197.6-meter section from the hole grades 0.82% nickel, including 79.4 metres of 1.04% nickel, and 3.93 metres of 1.91% nickel, beginning at 750.5 metres and 825.9 metres below surface.
“With this drilling we are particularly pleased to confirm the presence of higher grade mineralization at depth,” said Nuinsco’s vice-president of exploration Paul Jones in a prepared statement.
He says the hole ended in mineralization at a depth of 856 metres, suggesting the potential to add tonnage with further drilling.
A second hole collared some 1.5 km away missed the mineralized zone.
The drilling is part of an ongoing 3,000-metre infill drill program.
Measured and indicated resources at Minago total 29.8 million tonnes averaging 0.64% nickel, with another 27.2 million tonnes of inferred material grading 0.67% nickel. The estimates are based on a cutoff grade of 0.4% nickel (T.N.M., May 12-18/06).
The deposit remains open at depth.
“Minago contains a large nickel resource, tremendous infrastructure and has the potential to be a company-builder,” said Nuinsco CEO Warren Holmes. “We are committed to seeing Minago in production as quickly as possible, and this year’s drilling is a significant step toward achieving this.”
