Drilling by Nuinsco Resources (TSE) at its Rainy River project, 40 km northwest of Fort Frances, Ont., has revealed more nickel-copper mineralization.
Drill hole NR96-29 intersected a gabbro intrusion with
semi-massive-to-massive sulphides at its base. A 7.7-metre core length of massive sulphide graded 2.26% nickel, 2.32% copper and 0.11% cobalt, as well as 3.2 grams platinum, 7.7 grams palladium, 3.1 grams gold and 23 grams silver per tonne. The intersection included 0.95 metre of 4.82% nickel.
A true width of 12.9 metres was calculated for the hole based on a 50! drill angle and an intrusion intersection with a core length of 20 metres. The true width of the 7.7-metre sulphide intersection should be about 5 metres. Grades are significantly higher in hole NR96-29, drilled down-rake from earlier holes, and the company believes grade may increase with depth.
Nuinsco is exploring the Rainy River property under an agreement with Diamond Fields Resources (TSE). Diamond Fields can earn a 51% interest from Nuinsco by funding exploration up to a final feasibility study. Western Troy Capital (ASE) has a 4.9% interest in the property.
