Beardmore prospector killed in accident

A highly regarded independent prospector who never lost his faith in the Geraldton-Beardmore gold area which he so proudly made his home for 25 years, David Thornsteinson was fatally injured in a car accident there this past week. It was he and his long time Beardmore prospector-partner, Nolan Cox, who staked and dealt the some 2,000 claims that have recently sparked a new wave of activity in that area, including a large portion of the discovery group.

“He was a real believer in self prospecting and certainly knew the businessalt+dalt+d.alt+dalt+d.alt+dalt+d.alt+dalt+da tremendous help to the many who came from all over that area to seek his advice,” a long- time acqaintance called to tell us this week. Other comments called in from friends and business associates included — “tops in his profession” and “a real humanitarian.”

He is survived by his wife Mona, who suffered injuries in the same accident that claimed his life.

So this is where Grandpa Dave got his interest in geology… I’ll treasure my great grandfather’s reputation, I’m unfortunately the youngest… I never got the chance to meet him. I knew Wilma, though. She passed when I was very young. I hope to give some assurance that his descendants are still here and may leave our own tracks in this world.
