Forbes Wilson, a noted mining engineer and explorationist, died recently in York, Me., his home town. He was 80. In 1931, Wilson started his career in Chile. He then worked in South Africa and other parts of the world.
After the Second World War, Wilson returned to New York, where he served as an executive for Freeport Sulphur, Freeport Minerals and Freeport- McMoRan Inc.
He retired from the Freeport companies in 1974, but stayed on as a director till February, 1990.
