OBITUARY – Frank Beales

It is with sadness that The Northern Miner informs its readers of the passing of Frank Beales at the age of 85.

Born in Great Britain, he attended Kingswood College and Cambridge University, he served as a captain the British and Canadian army, Newfoundlanders Brigade during and after the Second World War. He emigrated to Canada in 1948, and taught at McMaster University while completing his PhD at the University of Toronto. He was internationally recognized for his expertise on Mississippi-Valley-type lead/zinc deposits and will be remembered fondly by his former students. He is survived by his wife and loving family.

A party will be held in Dr. Beales’ memory at the University of Toronto Faculty Club on Friday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Adult Day Program at Senior People’s Resources in North Toronto Inc. (SPRINT, 2nd floor, 140 Merton Street, Toronto, ON M4S 1A1) or the charity of your choice.
