OBITUARY John Drybrough

John Drybrough, noted mining engineer, died recently in Winnipeg, Man. He was 94. Born in Scotland, Drybrough immigrated with his family to Canada in 1908, and had lived in Winnipeg since 1928. He held a B.A.Sc. degree in mining engineering from the Univeristy of Toronto (1922).

Among positions he held, Drybrough was assistant chemist for Mond Nickel Co. (an Inco predecessor) in Ontario (1913-15), chief field engineer for Victoria Syndicate (1924-27), past president and director of Newmont Mining Co. of Canada and secretary to Midwest Metal Mining Association (1941-45).

As well, Drybrough had his private practice, largely mining exploration, mine operations and property valuation until 1976 when he retired.
