A drill hole at the Lucky Star prospect in the Pontide belt of eastern Turkey has turned up high-grade zinc and lead mineralization for operator
The hole intersected a 16.1-metre section of massive zinc-lead sulphide mineralization, carrying average grades of 9.7% zinc and 3.1% lead, plus 83 grams silver per tonne. The zone corresponds to a nearby 11.2-metre intersection, cut in an earlier hole drilled by the Turkish state agency MTA, which graded 24.2% zinc and 8.5% lead.
Odyssey describes the footwall of the mineralized body as a sulphide-rich volcaniclastic breccia; the description suggests a possible feeder zone to a volcanic vent. Zinc grades in the footwall breccia range from a few tenths of a per cent to 17.38%, with lead grades from 0.03% to 3.71% and local silver credits.
In the hangingwall, a pyritic breccia and an overlying fragmental-sedimentary rock unit carry grades of 0.81% to 3.3% zinc and 0.47% to 1.37% lead. A pyritic mudstone unit higher up in the section showed some zinc and lead values as well.
Odyssey is awaiting analytical results from its second hole, drilled along strike from the known mineralization. Drilling continues.
