Ontario’s annual mines symposium starts Dec 11

“The aim of the symposium is to allow participants to learn as much as possible about mineral development opportunities, geoscience investigations by Ministry of Northern Development and Mines staff and research projects funded under the Ontario Geoscience Research Grant program,” said Ontario’s Mines Minister Hugh O’Neil.

An annual event that began in 1978 as the Geological Branch Workshop, the symposium has evolved into a 2 1/2-day event with poster displays, oral presentations and panel discussions. Sponsored by the Mines and Minerals Division, it consists of a half-day Mineral Development Forum — hosted by the Mineral Development and Lands Branch — and the Ontario Geological Survey’s 2-day Geoscience Research Seminar.

Registration is required, but there is no charge.
