Open pit begun at Casino project

With drilling continuing at the Casino copper-gold project in southwestern Yukon, owner Pacific Sentinel Gold (VSE) has released a preliminary estimate of reserves for a starter pit within the larger Casino deposit.

Consultant Archer Cathro & Associates, which has a 5% net profits interest in the project, estimates the size of a potential starter pit at 99 million tons grading 0.4% copper, 0.05% molybdenum and 0.014 oz. gold per ton including both supergene and hypogene material.

The leached cap on top of the higher-grade zone is estimated to contain about 27 million tons grading 0.1% copper, 0.05% molybdenum and 0.021 oz. gold. Pacific Sentinel has six drills systematically testing the extent of the deposit. To date, the company has completed 112,000 ft. in 79 large-diameter holes.

The Casino deposit remains open to expansion in all directions and now measures 3,600 ft. north-south and 5,000 ft. east-west.

Drilling is expected to continue during 1993 and 1994 in an effort to delineate the ultimate size of the deposit.
