“Operation Wawa” off and running for Galveston

A $1.5 million exploration program is scheduled to begin in the next few weeks on Galveston Resources’ Murphy Lake mine property in Ontario. Known as “Operation Wawa,” the joint venture includes Berle Resources and Tri Basin Resources with International Corona as project manager and its exploration affiliate, Mascot Gold Mines as operator.

The first phase program, which involved two drill rigs, was completed in early March. Results were encouraging and more drilling is planned for the Murphy mine this fall, says Mascot. Encouraging widths were encountered in the West zone and the continuity was good down dip, the company adds. West zone results included 16.6 ft of 0.13 oz gold and 3.5 ft of 4.5 oz gold. The zone will be tested along strike and down dip in the next drilling phase and new vein structures discovered during the winter program will also be evaluated. Both the Leitch and Cradle Lake gold occurrences are to be tested.

Several promising gold showings have been identified through prospecting and sampling and these will be followed up as well. A report is being prepared on the recent program and it will be released shortly.
