Partners Pangea Goldfields (PGD-T) and Explorations Minieres Du Nord (MDN-M) have discovered two parallel gold-bearing structures at their Tulawaka property in the Lake Victoria Goldfields district of Tanzania.
The structures were discovered while drilling coincident gold-in-soil anomalies spaced 1.5 km apart. Each is described as a 30-to-80-metre-wide shear zone, within which high-grade gold values are associated with quartz-tourmaline veins.
Results include: 42 metres (from 0 to 42 metres) averaging 4.9 grams gold per tonne in hole 46; 15 metres (11-26 metres) averaging 13.8 grams in hole 26; 4 metres (18-22 metres) averaging 16.9 grams in hole 66; and 6 metres (3-9 metres) averaging 35.5 grams in hole 9.
Drilling was carried out using rapid air blasting, with holes drilled to a depth of 42 metres. Additional drilling is scheduled to begin in October and will include several reverse-circulation holes.
Pangea owns a 70% interest in the Tulawaka property; Explorations Minires, 30%. The former is the operator of the joint venture.
