Partners drill Cuban project

Drilling is set to begin at the Golden Hill project in eastern Cuba.

Partners MacDonald Mines Exploration (ASE), Golden Hill Mining (CDN) and Cuban state-owned GeoMinera report that the 22,000-ft. program will entail drilling 40 to 50 holes.

The objective will be to test for epithermal gold mineralization in four targets: Little Golden Hill, Big Golden Hill, Three Hills and Raul’s Ridge. These were tested last year in a program of soil sampling, trenching, rock sampling and shallow drilling.

MacDonald Mines estimates that Little Golden Hill has the potential to host 10-15 million tonnes averaging 2-3 grams gold per tonne.

The drilling will also test a blind intrusive identified by last year’s airborne geophysical survey. Here, the partners are hoping to find porphyry copper mineralization similar to that found at the nearby Tres Casas and Palo Seco targets.
